Dear Consortium Members,
The next meeting of the Disability Rights Consortium will take place on Wednesday October 23rd from 9:30-11:00. Our guest speaker will be Bill Bogdan, the Disability Liaison for the IL Secretary of State’s office. Due to a new law enacted by the Illinois General Assembly, significant changes have been made to the Persons with Disabilities Parking Program, which affect both new applicants and current disability placard and license plate holders. Enforcement of the new provisions will begin January 1, 2014. Bill will discuss these recent changes, as well as give an overview and answer questions about other laws that impact accessible parking. Since many of our organizations get calls and questions about accessible parking, this should be a very useful and practical session.
If you’re not able to attend the meeting in person, you can participate online at www.illinoislegaladvocate.org. Just click on “Calendar” and then click on the listing for the Consortium meeting on the 23rd. A captioner will be at the meeting. If you need any other accommodations to attend the meeting, please contact me by October 18th.
We hope to see you on the 23rd,
Barry C. Taylor
