Speaker
Our featured speaker will be Meghan Carter from the Disability Rights Bureau at the Illinois Attorney General's Office.
Topic: Access to the Courts for People with Disabilities
People with disabilities regularly participate in all aspects of the legal system – as litigants, jurors, witnesses, spectators, attorneys and judges. To ensure people with disabilities have equal access to the courts, Court Disability Coordinators (CDCs) have been designated in each Judicial Circuit in the Illinois state courts to coordinate compliance with the ADA. The Disability Rights Bureau of Illinois Attorney General Lisa Madigan’s Office provides training and technical assistance to CDCs across the state. This session will provide an overview of the CDC program and common issues, along with a review of case law and settlements that impact the fundamental right to access the courts.
CLE Credit
This program will be eligible for 1.5 hours of Continuing Legal Education Credit.
