Speaker(s): Pia Justesen, Danish human rights lawyer and author
Topic: Pia Justesen lived in Chicago between 2014 and 2019 and wrote an oral history book, "From the Periphery -- Real-Life Stories of Disability," published by Chicago Review Press in 2020. The webinar will discuss universal topics like anger, independence, bigotry, solidarity, and love -- in the family, at school, and the workplace. Focus will be on the disabling world and the harmful effects of discrimination and exclusion because of disability. But even more so, the webinar will include stories of strong individuals, their coping strategies, and what they do to empower themselves and others.
