Meeting Description:  The next meeting of the Disability Rights Consortium will be Wednesday January 25 from 9:30-11:00 via Zoom. Our featured speakers will be EFE attorneys Sarah Huttenlocher, Megan Sorey, Rachel Weisberg & Emily Wilson, who will be introducing the new Independent Client Assistance Program (CAP). CAP provides information, advocacy and legal assistance for people with disabilities who are getting services funded by the Rehabilitation Act, including vocational rehabilitation (employment support services) from the Division of Rehabilitation Services (DRS) and Centers for Independent Living (CILs). The speakers will share information about how CAP can help people with disabilities advocate for meaningful services, what CAP has accomplished so far and goals for the future, and seek feedback on areas for future advocacy. The speakers will also give an overview of the vocational rehabilitation program in Illinois. This session is eligible for 1.5 hours of Continuing Legal Education credit for Illinois attorneys. Live captioning will be available. If you need any other accommodations to participate, please contact Barry Taylor at barryt@equipforequality.org by January 18.
